Feeding Your Furry Friends

Just like humans, pets require specific caloric intakes based on their size, age, and activity level.

1. Resting Energy Requirement (RER)

A pet's base metabolic rate can be estimated by taking their body weight in kilograms, raising it to the ¾ power, and multiplying by 70.

2. Maintenance Energy Requirement (MER)

Once you have the RER, you multiply it by a factor based on their activity. A working dog will have a much higher multiplier than a senior indoor cat.

3. Portion Control

Always measure pet food by weight (grams) or with a standardized measuring cup, rather than eyeballing it, to prevent pet obesity.
