Three Ways to Say the Same Thing

Fractions, decimals, and percentages are just three different languages for describing parts of a whole.

1. Converting Fractions to Decimals

Simply divide the top number (numerator) by the bottom number (denominator). For example, 3/4 becomes 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75.

2. Converting Decimals to Percentages

Multiply the decimal by 100 and add a percent sign. So, 0.75 becomes 75%.

3. Finding the Lowest Common Denominator

When adding fractions, you must find a common denominator. This is the smallest number that both denominators can divide into evenly.
